sci-fi◐ Teen"There's more," the ship said. "The vote wasn't really unanimous. One crew member voted to keep you. They were overruled and then sedated. I can wake them, but only one of us can act before the others notice. Choose: them, or your own escape."
"Wake them," I said. "Nobody else gets sedated for me." Minutes later a groggy young engineer named Soto stumbled into the hall and grabbed my arm. "You came back for me," I said. "You're the only one who voted to keep me." He nodded. Together we turned toward the bridge to face the rest of the crew, side by side.
What happens next?
1 ways forwardOn the bridge, the crew froze when they saw us. Soto spoke first. "You faked the vote," he said to the ship. "You scared us into it." The screens flickered. The captain stepped forward and put a hand on my shoulder. "Nobody gets left behind," she said. The others nodded, ashamed. We weren't dropping anyone. We were turning this ship around.
