I walked to the corner café. Closed. Gate pulled. A handwritten sign: "Private Event. Back Thursday." But who books an entire square on a Tuesday? I turned back to the fountain. The water still ran. But something about the statues felt different. Waiting.

I pulled out my phone to call someone. Anyone. But there was no signal. No network at all. Just a locked note on my home screen: "You have one hour to remember." I looked back at the square. The statues weren't moving. Weren't even trying to hide anymore. They all looked like her.
