Iyla swam out with the key and pushed open the heavy vault door. Inside, instead of gold, sat rows of sealed glass jars filled with seeds.
Behind the seed jars, Iyla found a small steel box with her name scratched on the lid. Inside was a letter in her father's hand. "If you two are reading this together, then the sea gave me one good thing," it said. "It made you a team again. The seeds are for everyone. Don't let anyone take them."
