Near midnight, two small shapes creep into the allotments. Nadia holds her breath. It's Theo Lim and his friend Priya, giggling and pulling a red wagon. They heave the pumpkin onto it and start rolling. Nadia steps out and clicks on her flashlight.
The kids panic and run, leaving the rolling pumpkin behind. It bumps down the slope and squashes into the strawberries with a splat. In the morning Nadia explains everything from her notebook. The grown-ups stop blaming each other, and Theo comes back to apologize and help clean up. Mystery solved.
