The Confession Booth Recordings

Coyle slammed the recorder off. Hiding a microphone in a confessional was a sin and a crime. The dead sexton had been taping confessions for fifty years. Someone had to answer for it. Coyle drove straight to the home of the one man who might have known: the retired bishop.

The old bishop wasn't surprised at all. "Walter taped everything," he admitted. "I told him to. A church needs to know which sheep are wolves." Coyle stared at him, sick to his stomach. The tapes weren't an accident. They were a plan, and Coyle had stumbled into fifty years of buried secrets.
