"The clock," Pip said. "Every reset happens when it hits 7:02. Maybe if we mess with the clock, we mess with the loop." The five of them crowded around the little alarm clock on Mara's dresser. It hummed softly, way too warm to touch.

Theo grabbed the clock and smashed it on the floor. Plastic flew everywhere. For one second, everything went silent and still. Then the pieces slid back together by themselves, the screen blinked on, and it read 7:02. The loop snapped them back to their sleeping bags.
