"My dad gave me this robot," the boy says, not looking up. "Before he moved away." Walt keeps his eyes on the screws so the boy can keep talking. "He doesn't call much." Walt nods slowly. "Well," he says, "let's make sure the robot still works. So it's ready when he does."

The robot works again. The boy hugs it tight. "When my dad sees this, he'll know I kept it good," he says. Walt has to clear his throat before he answers. "He will. And the chair's yours too, anytime. Even if your dad's busy, you've still got somewhere to come." The boy nods, and holds the robot a little closer.
