The Gardener of Slow Light

Mira followed her grandmother's last instruction from the video: "Open the greenhouse roof shutters and let the slow light in." She climbed up and cranked the rusty handle. The shutters groaned open, and pale, gentle light poured down over the vines. They unfurled fast, blooming bright white flowers in seconds. Whatever this light was, the garden loved it.

As the flowers bloomed, their pollen drifted up and out the open shutters into space, glowing like a trail of dust. Mira followed it with the telescope and gasped. The pollen was floating straight toward Veil, sinking into the dying star — and slowly, the old red ember began to brighten. Her garden was feeding the star back to life.
