Theo grabs his coat instead and stands. "That's me," he says, nodding at the bus. "I should go." He's been doing this all year, leaving right before the real talk starts. Mara stands too and steps between him and the door. "Not this time," she says.
Theo stops, coat half on. "You're really not letting me leave?" "No," Mara says. "For once you're going to stand here and finish a sentence." He huffs a laugh, then hangs the coat back on the hook and sits. "Okay," he says. "You win. I'm not going anywhere tonight."
