Maren shoves her hand under the mattress and finds a cold metal key. "What does it open?" Sol's voice drops. "The panel behind my headboard. But listen: there are two switches. Green ends the loop gently. Red ends it fast but might erase the people still sleeping in it. Choose right." The clock reads 6:48.
Maren grabs the red switch, desperate to end it fast. "No, the green!" Sol cries, but her hand is already moving. The loop snaps shut hard. Maren wakes free, out in the parking lot, alive and remembering everything. But Ward C behind her is dark and empty. The sleepers never came back. She got out, but not the way she wanted.
