Vesna does nothing at all. She just watches the clock and waits for 2:15, the moment they always die. This time she wants to see what actually happens in that second. The cafe goes very quiet. Calder notices how still she is and frowns, unsure what she's planning.
At 2:15, nothing kills her. Calder, rattled by her stillness, moves first and fires his device. But because Vesna stayed perfectly still and never locked a target, his cut has nothing to push against. It rebounds on him. His own future closes over his head like water, and he is simply gone.
