Mara realizes she can't bring the memories back from up here. The answer is in the basement. She runs down, sits in the chair, and looks for a thread that ties Eli back to everyone. She finds it: a faded line, almost invisible, the bond that made him their brother. She tries to stitch it back into place.
The faded thread snaps tight and glows again. Upstairs, Mara hears a crash, then Eli shouting, 'Mara! Where have you been all morning?' He remembers her. The photos on the fridge fill back in, two grinning kids at the lake. She runs up and hugs him so hard he laughs. No more cutting threads. They're a family again, and they're staying that way.
