I walked closer to the fountain. The water was blue instead of clear. How had I not noticed? A figure stepped out from behind the fountain wall. The woman in grey. "Mr. Penn. We need you to choose. The loop ends today." "What loop?"
"We've looped this day nine times," she said. "Each time you came to the fountain. Each time the sparrow was there. Each time you had a choice." "What choice?" "Let her go. Or try to save her again." She handed me a button. "Press it. The loop resets. You can try again." My finger hovered.
