A woman in her fifties opens the door. I mention Cordelia. She goes stiff. Her eyes fill. 'Who sent this?' she whispers.

'I WAS Cordelia,' she says. 'Before I married. Before I changed everything. I knew him. Years ago.' She stares at the letter like it's a ghost.

What happens next?
