1979: MISSING KEEPER. 1980: NO LEADS. 1985: LIGHTHOUSE AUTOMATED, NO KEEPER NEEDED. But the automation article is unsigned. And there's a photo of the light working. Except the photo is taken from inside the lamp room.
I dig deeper into archives. There are *five* official reports of a 'lighthouse automation' between 1968 and 1985. Each claims the keeper is gone. Each photo is taken from inside. The same hand wrote each report. Samuel Cross signed all of them.
