The Lighthouse Keeper
mysteryEveryone6 contributors · 2 paragraphs deep
I'm on the dock at 11pm and the old lighthouse is flashing. Not blinking like it's broken—steady, intentional, twice every minute. Perfect rhythm. The town said that door's been locked since the '80s. No one climbed those stairs. But that light keeps going. And I'm standing here wondering if I'm about to learn something I shouldn't.
I zoom in on my phone. The light isn't just on—it's flashing at EXACT intervals. I count: 47 seconds between each flash. Every. Single. Time. That's not a bulb someone lit. That's a system running on something.

A possible continuation
I walk closer to the lighthouse base. The wiring around the lamp room isn't rusted. Not the original '80s setup. These wires are new. Shiny. Maybe a year old, max. Someone has been maintaining this.
