The Cartographer of Forgotten Coasts
fantasyEveryoneEdda didn't run to the docks or grab her pen. Instead she asked the question that scared her most: why now, and why her? She rolled up the chart and hurried across town to old Mistress Pell, the one person who might know what her ink had done.
Mistress Pell opened the door before Edda even knocked. She looked at the chart and nodded slowly. 'So it's started with you,' she said. 'Every few lifetimes, the sea chooses a mapmaker. Whatever you draw, the world tries to obey. But the sea always asks for something back.' Edda swallowed hard and asked what the price would be.
What happens next?

They sailed in unharmed. From that day Edda became the keeper of her own coast, watching over every ship that came near it.
