The Last Bus on Marrow Street
dramaEveryone5 contributors · 5 paragraphs deep
So Eli did. Each night that week, he waited the extra few seconds for stragglers. Word spread fast. By the fifth night, the 9:40 was packed with regulars who'd switched just to ride with him one last time. They brought coffee, cards, and stories. The bus felt alive again.
On the seventh and final night, the depot let the riders throw a small party on the last run. They strung lights along the windows and sang the whole route. When Eli parked the 9:40 for the last time, the bus was retired, but he wasn't forgotten. They named the new stop after him.
