Milo froze and stayed dead quiet. He looked around the dark for who had whispered. A small girl crouched behind the front desk, waving him over. "Hurry," she breathed, "before a loud one notices you." He crept toward her on his hands and knees.

A girl popped up from behind the desk and handed Milo a small brass bell with the clapper taped down. "I'm Posy. Ring this soft and it keeps them sleepy," she whispered. "Ring it too hard and it wakes them. Take it. We need it to reach the side door."
