Behind the desk, the girl pressed a finger to her lips. "I'm Posy. I fell asleep here too, ages ago." She pointed at a thick red book on the top shelf. "That one's the Keeper. If it opens its cover, everybody wakes. We have to slip out before it does."

Posy led Milo crawling between the shelves toward the side door. Above them, the red Keeper book trembled. "Don't look up," she hissed. They reached the door. It needed a key. Posy pointed at a ring of keys hanging on a hook right under the Keeper.

Milo reached up super slow and lifted the keys off the hook, holding them tight so they wouldn't jingle. The Keeper shivered right above his hand. He passed the keys to Posy, who unlocked the side door. They slipped out together and shut it softly behind them.
