Elias refuses to accept it. He drags Mara back to find the machine in this future and fix the timeline. They locate it in a ruined lab, still humming, kept alive by a government that has been hunting him across three years. He has one chance to send her back to a life where she lives and the world stays whole.
Elias straps Mara into the machine and sets the date for the morning of the crash, choosing to let her live it and survive on her own. 'You'll forget all this,' he says. 'Just turn the wheel.' She kisses him goodbye. The coil screams. She vanishes. Outside, the boarded town brightens, the checkpoint gone, the world stitched back together without him in it.
