"I'm sure," Milo said. He borrowed a bright, happy day and gave it to his grandpa. That afternoon, Grandpa laughed for the first time in weeks and took Milo fishing. It was the best day ever. Then Milo remembered: he still had to pay the day back himself, by Friday.

Friday came. Milo went to pay, but he didn't want to lose a future day. Then he had an idea: he offered to sweep her dusty little library for a week instead. The librarian laughed, gears chiming. "Honest work for an honest debt. Deal." His card stamped "PAID" in gold.
