Mara grabbed a notebook and wrote, 'Don't touch the coil again.' She held it up. Two minutes later, Ines read it, nodded, and stepped back from the machine. It worked. They could talk, just slowly. Mara decided they would fix this together, one written message at a time.
Mara wrote down what she saw before Ines did, like a two-minute weather report. 'Beaker tips over in 90 seconds.' She moved it. No spill. Ines watched it not happen and grinned. They had a tiny superpower. But Mara wanted it gone, not used. She flipped to a clean page to plan a real fix.
