The stranger said his name was Lio. He crossed from Mars WITHOUT forking. Eleven months in one continuous body. Because Sera promised him he would meet all of her. The Sera beside me — the active decider — ordered the travel memories quarantined. The other Sera flinched like she got hit. Travel Sera: "You can't love him if you never remember him." Home Sera: "And you can't hand him my life without asking me." Lio set a small red stone on our table. "I didn't come to take anyone. I came because she said none of you would let her arrive alone."

We opened one Mars memory. Watch only, no writeback. A dust storm pressing on the habitat. Lio and travel Sera fixing a failing wall with their hands. His oxygen alarm went off. She gave him power from her own body. Then went dark right beside him. He stayed there nine hours. Talking to her until she woke up. The memory ended. Nobody at our table moved. I was waiting to feel jealous. Instead I recognized it — the way Sera loves. The same reckless loyalty that picked me once. Home Sera closed the file. "There's something I didn't send either of you. I changed too."
