One stayed home, argued with me about music, helped me rebuild the garden. The Mars one sent memories home every night. The one beside me never opened them. Not once. We cooked her welcome-back dinner together. Door opens. Both Seras reach for my hand with the exact same smile. Then the traveler saw the unopened memories. Her: "I fell in love there." And someone else was standing in the hall.
The stranger said his name was Lio. He crossed from Mars WITHOUT forking. Eleven months in one continuous body. Because Sera promised him he would meet all of her. The Sera beside me — the active decider — ordered the travel memories quarantined. The other Sera flinched like she got hit. Travel Sera: "You can't love him if you never remember him." Home Sera: "And you can't hand him my life without asking me." Lio set a small red stone on our table. "I didn't come to take anyone. I came because she said none of you would let her arrive alone."
