The Lighthouse Keeper

I text my friend Jake: 'the lighthouse light is on.' / He: 'no it's not, it's been dark forever.' / 'I'm literally looking at it right now.' / He calls. 'Don't go there, Mara.'

'why won't you want me to go?' I text Jake. Long pause. 'because the last person who went in there in 1979 didn't come back out.' He sends a photo. A newspaper clipping. Keeper reported missing.
