Don't Wake the Library
horrorEveryoneA girl popped up from behind the desk and handed Milo a small brass bell with the clapper taped down. "I'm Posy. Ring this soft and it keeps them sleepy," she whispered. "Ring it too hard and it wakes them. Take it. We need it to reach the side door."
Milo's hand shook and the bell clanged loud. The tape on the clapper popped off. Every book sprang fully awake, spines snapping out like teeth. Posy grabbed his sleeve. "Run! The side door, NOW!" They sprinted through the stacks as books flapped after them.
What happens next?
1 ways forwardMilo and Posy crashed through the side door into the parking lot. Books spilled out after them, then stopped cold at the doorway, unable to cross into the open air. The door swung shut and the lock snapped tight. The two of them sat on the curb, gasping and laughing with relief.
